Ethical dilemmas of a family caring for a person with a severe disability.
ČERMÁKOVÁ, Eva
The subject of this thesis are ethical dilemmas faced by the parents who look after children with severe combined disabilities of physical and mental nature and help that is provided to them by a social worker. The first part of the thesis focuses on characteristics of families with a disabled member, social services the families can access and general competencies of social workers. Based on ethical assumptions we then combine these characteristics with examples of ethical dilemmas that might arise. These are chosen based on 3 typological examples observed at parents of clients of day care centre Radovan which we devided into 3 main fields. Each field is elaborated from an ethical point of view, in particular Christian ethics also known as moral theology, and appropriate approach of a social worker is suggested based on the analysis.
Bedřich Vašek and the "Christian Sociology" in the Context of the Development of the Church's Social Teaching in the First Half of the 20th Century. Implications for the 21st Century
M. Demartini, Lenka ; Ovečka, Libor (advisor) ; Štica, Petr (referee) ; Halama, Jindřich (referee)
The dissertation seeks an answer to the question of the content of the somewhat paradoxical phrase "Christian sociology", specifically the content of Christian sociology as conceived by the Moravian scholar of the first half of the 20th century Bedřich Vašek (1882-1959). At the same time, however, as a result of the insights brought by the research itself, the original thesis was supplemented by the question of the current state of this specific rejuvenating field. The idea of Christian sociology remained virtually dormant from the 1950s until the later 1970s. The revival of the field can be seen as an apparent response to both the methodological changes of the Second Vatican Council and the advent of postmodern society. The research has provided a wealth of stimuli for exploring the relationship between the historical phenomenon of Christian sociology and contemporary notions of the Christian or Catholic perspective in sociology and, more broadly, the relationship between the social doctrine of the Church, theology and sociology in international and domestic settings. Through a specifically chosen methodological approach, which combines the study of authentic papal documents from the first half of the 20th century, the study of archival materials related to the person of Bedřich Vašek, the...
Moral aspects in the story of the first Book of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Attempt at a view of narrative ethics
Kozelský, Kamil ; Lorman, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Ovečka, Libor (referee)
C. S. Lewis was one of the greatest Christian apologists of modern times. He did not only write in Christianity defence, he also wrote a lot about morality and its close interrelationship with faith. This work aims, to demonstrate the moral message put into his work for children, specifically in the story I. Part of the Chronicles of Narnia. It tries to answer the question of whether they can be understood as a general parable of Christian life, spiritual warfare, or inner transformation of a man meeting God. It aims to show precisely the situation hidden in the story, which can be applied to everyday life situations. For example, issues stemming from (in my opinion) the most impressive image of the entire book: What gave strength to Edmund turn from evil to good after meeting with Aslan? What is the nature of this image from the perspective of moral theology and how it is applicable in our Christian life? In this work, I rely on the concept of ethics in other books by C. S. Lewis. The influence of Karel Statečný's ethics on Alois Spisar's ethics and on development of ethics in the czechoslovak church
Franková, Johana ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
The bachelor thesis tries to evaluate so far not published fragment of Karel Statečný's ethics, which was prepared under the title Introduction to Ethics and Natural Law (ca. 1921-1924), and compare it with Ethics in Spirit of the Czechoslovak Church (1948) by Alois Spisar. The comparison of both works confirms the influence of ethical reflection of Karel Statečný on the further development of ethics in the Czechoslovak Church. The bachelor thesis brings enough arguments to demonstrate that Alois Spisar was familiar with the ethical conception of Karel Statečný, although his work and his person in his book are never mentioned. The most resemblances can be found in the layout of the ethical themes and in the chapters that deal with the sources of morality and relations of ethics to other disciplines.

Řeháková, Veronika ; Pospíšil, Ctirad Václav (advisor) ; Šmíd, Marek (referee) ; Weis, Martin (referee)
in English The following work is about Matěj Procházka (1811-1889), an important figure of national and ecclesiastical life in Moravia in 19th century and a member of the circle around Professor František Sušil, the-so-called Sušilova družina. The detailed biography presented here is the result of historical research into resource materials from several different archives in Moravia. This work examines three main periods of Procházka's life. He spent his childhood and student years, firstly, in his native town of Brtnice, then in Jihlava and Brno. After ordination, he served as a priest for sixteen years in different parishes of Brno diocese. Then he lived in Brno for nearly forty years while working as a secondary grammar school teacher and catechist and being involved in different activities, such as the Czech national revival, Catholic associations, education, and especially, publishing. This work maps the importance of the personage of Matěj Procházka as seen by his contemporaries and by following generations up to the present. It also brings out the overall characteristics of this priest. A part of this study is a new and enlarged bibliography of Procházka's works, as writer, journalist, translator, reviewer, poet, and author of scientific and scholarly treatises. In his works, he covered a...
An attempt to evaluate the beatitudes of Jesus in terms of Christian ethics. Mt 5,3-12
Hlavnička, Miroslav ; Lorman, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Mašek, Vojtěch (referee)
This thesis deals with the interpretation of the text of the Beatitudes in the Gospel of Matthew. It is an attempt to evaluate the reference text in terms of Christian ethics. It poses the question of the presence of morally relevant content, ethical implications, in Jesus' Beatitudes. In an effort to understand the text it first discusses the proper handling of the Biblical text and hermeneutics as an effort to understand the text. With the standardized explanatory commentary the exegesis of the reference text Mt 5,3-12 is made. Based on the evaluation of the interpretations the thesis is determined. But the work does not finish with the exegesis of the text, but attempts to move towards the theological ethics. It identifies the Beatitudes as particularly emphasized attitudes. Christological interpretation of the Beatitudes as a portrait of Jesus is attached in the last chapter.

Role of State from moral theology perspectives
Štolle, Petr ; Ovečka, Libor (advisor) ; Mašek, Vojtěch (referee)
The role of state is questioned using the theological point of view. Therefore this is not work of sociology, political or historical science. The theological thinking is based on the words of the Bible that is followed by other church documents. Basic sources for this work are documents of International theological commission and texts of professor C.V. Pospíšil. The aim of this work is not pointing on specific cases but looking for moral theology principles and rules. The starting point is that state can never a be direct object of theological studies because that can only be an individual person. The main rule for searching the answers is the fact, that state should only be one of tools for delivering the common good. Also the common good should never be considered the target itself, because the common good only embraces the sum of conditions whereby man can attain its perfection. The results of analyses made are tested against Pope Francis' text Evangelii Gaudium, founding many similarities.
